Horner believes Newey wants to take a break from F1.
The head of Red Bull believes that Adrian Newey decided to leave the team to take a break from Formula 1. Christian also cast doubt on the designer`s possible transfer to another team.


I think Adrian has had a great career and has worked hard for the last 30 years. He spent seven years with Williams, seven years with McLaren and then spent most of the last 20 years with us.


And after talking with him, I think he reached the point that the team is in great shape, we are performing at an incredibly high level. He feels that now is the time to step back and take a short break.


He will continue to work on his [hypercar] RB17, the car that we are designing. But he felt that now was the time to take a break [from Formula 1].


He is 65 years old and has earned this right to take a short break to spend some time with his wife and family. That`s what he really wants. Maybe he decides he wants to work in F1 again, who knows? The irony is that Adrian always hated the change in regulations.


The new 2026 regulation is unique because it will affect both the chassis and the engine. It`s a very different world these days with budget caps and limited resources, " Horner said.
