Kylian Mbappe has been named French Sportsman of the Year by L`Equipe.


Forward of PSG and the French national team scored 832 points in the voting. Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema came in second with 484 points.

The award for the best athlete has been awarded by L`Equipe since 1946 for France and since 1975 for the whole world.


The rating is determined by the results analyzed by poland ranking of a secret ballot, which closes on December 20. From the list of nominees, each journalist of the publication makes his own list of the five most outstanding athletes. 6 points are awarded for the first place, 4 for the second, 3 for the third, 2 for the fourth and 1 for the fifth.


Since 2012, the award has been given separately to the best athlete in France and separately to the best athlete in the world.
